HP has ambitious goals for the next generation of connected, intelligent, digital manufacturing.  The hybrid cloud platform and applications we deliver to customers as part of our system experience and are the primary vehicle.  As the Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will be charged with building the next generation Digital Manufacturing Platform and Applications for HP. You have unsurpassed skill in a strong broad-based leadership background with specialized, proven experience within the public/hybrid/private cloud space, and you will bring your knowledge to bear to help lead decisions on IoT frameworks, microservice architecture, cross device applications, and cutting-edge hybrid cloud infrastructure.  You have a proven track record with leading, inspiring, motivating and providing technical guidance to a team of software engineers to draw out their best work. You keep your skills razor sharp and will lead best practices in platform and application development approach by example.  You can’t imagine a life without continual learning, and you model a growth mindset to the rest of the development community.  You are passionate about the digital manufacturing space and how the role of data and SW in decision making, a customer and design-centered focus, and the evolution of connected IoT frameworks can transform the way the world manufactures. 


  • Drive the execution and delivery of platform and application features by collaborating with cross functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers
  • Make critical decisions that attribute to the success of the product development and delivery
  • Proactive in foreseeing issues and resolve it before it happens
  • Represent the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity
  • Partner with Technical Product Owners to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs and risk

Education and Experience

  • Masters / Bachelors degree required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Equivalent Experience
  • 5+ years management experience in software engineering
  • 10 years relevant and successful platform and application development technical leadership across a broad and relevant career

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expert in all parts of the SW development lifecycle, and able to contribute directly from scoping initial program deliverables to evolving large and established SW systems
  • Strong experience in delivering customer facing platform and applications that scale and are highly available.
  • Experience with OpenStack, Kubernetes. Mesos (DC/OS), or Dockers
  • Experience with building and running micro services in a polyglot environment.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages including but certainly not limited to: C/C++, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go.  Learning new languages and computer concepts is what you do every day
  • Ability to design large-scale applications with excellent run-time characteristics such as low-latency, fault-tolerance and availability
  • Ability to review designs and code, provide actionable feedback, and the detail orientation to follow-up on all technical topics

  • Must be organized, flexible & able to act independently, with ability to switch rapidly between different projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
