Global Head of Software Platforms

HP is the global leader in compute, print and 3D printing systems and solutions.  The Global Head of HP Cloud Software Solutions is responsible for driving HP’s cloud and software infrastructure strategy in support of solutions and experiences to meet customer needs and drive business results.  This role is responsible for defining, driving and executing the vision around cloud, big data, analytics, AI/Machine learning, subscription & payment systems and the associated connections to compute, print and 3D systems.  The Global Head of HP Cloud Software Solutions must be a proven business leader with technical strength to lead a large-scale global organization and with experience driving organizational transformational change.

This role reports directly to HP’s Chief Technology Officer and will be a key member of the CTO Leadership Team.  This leader will set the vision and technology strategy that will enable us to achieve our strategic goals. Leader in this role will manage a high performing team that oversees software development.  Ideal candidate has broad experience with external technologies and platforms to ensure we are bringing the best of cloud and software technologies into our products. Starting from the base of in-house talent this leader will leverage current team and then add to and build the high-performing team required to build a world-class integrated software solutions that are ready to be integrated into our product portfolio.

This role will work with the R&D Engineering and Product Development Teams to understand the requirements and goals and offer technical expertise on software platform approaches. The solutions executive will drive the architecture of the technology platform as they help leverage common processes/capabilities (e.g., support, service delivery) and oversee every stage of the implementation of the technology.

  • Technical leadership to understand the actual mechanics of large-scale software engineering practices that can scale across the organization. 
  • This leader will shape how approaches and technologies fit into our technical roadmap.
  • External Partnerships to help HP get the most out of key software partnerships including our work with Amazon/AWS, Microsoft and Google, along with other key alliances.  In this context, this leader must act as both engineer/architect level and the exec/business level to create outcomes.
  • Internal Partnerships to find synergies across HP and beyond Print including Personal Systems, CTO, 3D Print.
  • Responsible for Global geographic teams based in US, Brazil, Bangalore, Singapore, and China

    Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor degree in engineering (ideally computer science or software engineering).  A Masters in computer engineering and/or an MBA is a plus.
  • 20+ years of related technical expertise in consumer device technology, SW/HW integration
  • Experience driving SW strategies integrated to devices that deliver a great customer experience
  • Experience leading a global organization with cloud, big data, analytics, AI and Machine learning capabilities
  • Ability to build out our technology roadmap
  • Experience with cloud computing and cloud technologies
  • Proven internal partnership leadership aligned to building strong relationships
  • Ability to drive decisions to support business outcomes
  • Proven leadership in advocating and prioritizing solutions and experiences
  • Significant experience as a senior technology executive, with demonstrated contributions as a thought leader and technology visionary
  • Experience building and managing a high performing cross functional team that oversees product management, design, development, and engineering.
  • Expert understanding of external competitive landscape and technology platform that can be leveraged
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills
  • Ability to communicate the technical possibilities and limitations of systems to non-technical colleagues
  • Experience presenting to internal/external audiences such as senior level management or executives, senior technical audiences or clients
  • Passion for understanding emerging technologies with pragmatic insight into where those technologies can be integrated into business solutions
  • Proven experience in vetting and crafting technology solutions that are delivered on time and on budget
  • Building and maintaining technical trusted advisor relationships with technical decision makers
