Global Head of Security and Business Resiliency

The Global Head of Security and Business Resiliency will design, implement and manage a full range of security policies, programs and resources across the globe.  This position will be responsible for crisis management planning, business resiliency planning, travel safety, executive protection, location security and emergency response (both HP sites and major off-site events) with a focus toward continuous improvement and innovation to deliver a ‘best in class’ global security program.  This role will manage and oversee contracted security resources in order to provide the most cost effective, world class program.


Responsible for protecting the company's global assets and interests which include people, products, property/operations, brand and intellectual property (IP).   Principal activities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, implement and maintain global strategies and policies to mitigate security risk to HP.

  • Encompasses physical security and systems, risk analysis, large event security, travel security, executive protection, investigations, contingency planning and crisis management response.
  • Assist leadership team in identifying, implementing and maintaining security practices, policies and training.
  • Manage and update appropriate standards for crisis preparedness.
  • Leads security-related communications, promotes security awareness, designs and maintains communications channels to facilitate the distribution of time-sensitive security information.
  • Monitor and report on each site/country crisis management plan, including periodic local on-site visits.
  • Advise leadership on managing risk for work in new and higher risk geographies.
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of employee training related to travel safety and security.
  • Manage relationships with outside providers who support travel safety and medical/emergency response.
  • Serve as an active resource to employees and local offices regarding travel security and safety.
  • Partner with contracted security suppliers to deliver service and support globally at the lowest cost possible.
  • Lead the Global Crisis Management team, participate and support local Crisis Management teams by providing security consulting services.
  • Partner with Training and Meeting Planning teams to mitigate security risks at off-site programs by coordinating needed security precautions (including annual Worldwide Partner Meetings as well as regional leadership team meetings).
  • Work closely with Real Estate in ensuring security risks and requirements are factored into site selection processes.
  • Provide input and recommendations to senior management teams on matters related to security and crisis response.
  • Work collaboratively as member of the Corporate Real Estate & Workplace Solutions (CREWS) team.
  • Maintain liaison with local, national and international law enforcement, governmental security and intelligence agencies, industry organizations, and relevant organizations and individuals, to collect information relating to the security of HP assets and interests.
  • Continually assess and align security resources with risks.
  • Manages 3rd party vendors and budgets; assures security staff is trained to HP requirements.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of global security management in corporate setting(s); multi-national experience required; professional services experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supporting expansion into new geographies
  • Security certifications such as CPP or CFE preferred
  • Ability to function as both a leader, individual contributor and team member
  • Sound business judgment, with ability to anticipate company needs and identify and implement practical, realistic solutions
  • Highly responsive, service oriented individual with ability to flex schedule to support customers in various locations and time zones
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills; ability to effectively advise at all levels of the organization and across inexperienced as well as seasoned travelers
  • Ability to manage confidential and highly sensitive information with the highest levels of discretion and professionalism
  • Ability to travel with short notice and possibly for extended periods of time
  • Ability to meet deadlines, often within tight time frames
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil procedure as it relates to evidence, privacy, interviewing, breach of contract, fraud, supply chain and intellectual property protection.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communications skills, including presentation, reporting and consulting. Proven “customer service” and relationship management skills.
  • Advanced project management skills, including planning, execution, and implementation.
  • Developed business and financial acumen.
  • Established range of professional contacts. Familiar with the range of professional security literature.
  • Practical knowledge of travel security and the current geo-political and security environment across the geographical areas of responsibility.
