Global Manager of Commercial Displays Product Management

Specific Responsibilities:

• Attract, grow, motivate and maintain a best in class Commercial Displays Product Management team, with a key emphasis on living out our HP core values.

• Improve product management efficiencies through processes, tools and collaboration on a global level with our regional partners

• Ensure a robust insight gathering and product planning process that delivers time-to-market innovative solutions ahead of our competitors

• Responsible for developing and driving the long-term strategy for the commercial displays portfolio, delivering better together experiences with all HP platform solutions

• Provide timely and consistent portfolio, solution, and program recommendations to Executive leadership team, gaining alignment on go forward plans

• Develop key industry relationships in the Displays supply and analyst community to assess trends in the industry affecting the strategies and directions of our displays and adjacent solutions

• Ensure that our portfolio planning and roadmap strategies are aligned and supportive of the overall business strategies for PS and D&A

• Lead projects that involve cross-functional coordination to provide integrated product solutions - particularly with other Business Units and the regions

• Drive engagement with key stakeholder groups that commonly interface with the team: including our BPC platform teams, demand and lifecycle planning teams, product engineering and New Product Introduction


Education and Experience Required:

  • College degree in Marketing/Business/Technical
  • MBA or equivalent preferred

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • 10 years in product marketing fundamentals
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in management, with functional depth in product management/marketing or business management and with experience in PC or Consumer Electronics market. Displays marketing experience is a plus.
  • Strong Displays or PC industry market and business acumen with strong focus on cost and value management
  • Excellent people manager skills, manage a highly motivated team of marketing professionals
  • Strong analytic approach will be complemented by a well-honed intuition for meeting customer needs.
  • Proven track record of collaboration and relationship building skills.  Demonstrated ability to effectively work with end user customers and partners, the successful candidate must be able to win over internal customers at HP. Credibility and the ability to build a strong working relationship at all levels within HP are critical.
  • The candidate must have strong partnering skills, particularly working with colleagues in engineering and across geographies.  At the same time, he/she will also strongly partner with supply chain and demand planning. He or she will naturally engage colleagues to make joint decisions, will recognize sources of conflict and will be able to resolve these conflicts while balancing both short and long-term benefits
  • The person who occupies this role will be an excellent communicator with strong influencing skills, with regional partners, with HP executives and in public forums.  He or she will be persuasive and compelling in the arguments to support new product/process initiatives; and a persistent champion of their ideas within and outside of their organization. This confidence however will be matched by a strong team orientation.
  • Exceptional ability to execute and influence the direction of a product/technology vision and roadmap. The successful candidate should have a track record of influencing successful product/solution vision/roadmap and executing to a plan.
  • Other Experience and knowledge: understanding of product life cycle, ability to evaluate market & negotiate business contracts, in depth knowledge of marketing elements (product pricing, promotion, and positioning).
  • Proven managerial experience with the ability to lead, inspire and collaborate with teams

  • Product and Solution Roadmap Orchestration: Collaborates with business planners, R&D and other stakeholders in the development of market-driven roadmaps structured to increase the profitability of the business unit
  • Interactive PSS Lifecycle Marketing: Plans the interactive component of the marketing mix-at a WW level and can advise our regional partners on local implementation
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Understands and applies lifecycle methodology to accomplish work objectives - clear understanding of product development milestones, dependencies and tradeoffs

  • HP Marketing Strategy: Understands and effectively integrates HP's strategic marketing direction with task-oriented goals and initiatives

  • Problem Solving: Approaches problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensure comprehensive understanding and effective resolution
