This position requires working full-time at the Fort Collins, Colorado site during the summer of 2019.

This is a technical position located in the R&D lab of the Workstations Division working with the Storage team. The Storage team is responsible for design, selection, validation, delivery and support of storage components used in Workstation products.

The candidate will work with the Workstation Storage team researching and using different storage technologies to develop tools and processes that can be used for development on HP’s Desktop and Mobile Workstations.

The specific project will depend on the successful candidates’ skills and could include a combination of software tool design and/or hardware development as applied to storage technologies.

Potential responsibilities:

  • Understand customer requirements and how they translate into product features
  • Research and understand new storage technologies
  • Design hardware test methodology or software tool for use by multiple teams
  • Potentially write source code to program complete applications within deadlines
  • Perform unit and integration testing
  • Conduct functional and non-functional testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications and hardware
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to represent project
  • Report progress of development to program team(s) and upper management

Education and experience required:

  • Four-year university student currently in Junior year
  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related major
  • Related experience outside classwork/projects or internships
  • Some programming expertise C/C++ or similar
  • Scripting language (e.g. Python, Shell scripting)  
  • OS: Windows, Linux (Suse, RedHat, Ubuntu) is a plus
  • Understanding of Modern Computer Architecture (e.g. memory, PCI, processor architecture) with a desire to learn more

  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction
