The HP Workstations Division is seeking a Head of R&D. This role reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for delivering the most innovative portfolio of products and software solutions for professional computers. Our customers span from architects, product designers, game developers, media and entertainment companies, financial entities, and more—all looking for the highest performance and highest quality solutions.

In this position, you will contribute to our next generation of devices and solutions, from laptops and desktops to innovative new form factors, in a fast-changing and dynamic market. Working in close collaboration with the product management leadership, as well as relevant software providers (ISVs), technology partners, and ODMs, your organization will deliver first and best products, services, and solutions. With labs in the US and Taiwan, you will also ensure that we attract, develop and retain the best talent in the IT industry.

As a member of the Workstations leadership team, you will play a key role in our strategy development, planning and execution across fascinating areas like virtual reality, artificial intelligence, new computing user experiences, telemetry, among others.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Workstations R&D team, including strategy and operational plan development
  • Explore and develop new technologies to integrate into the product and solutions portfolio
  • Ensure operational effectiveness in alignment with deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Maximize the R&D return on investment through effective prioritization and allocation of resources
  • Attract and develop top, diverse technical talent in the industry

Skills and experience required:


  • University degree in Engineering
  • Master’s degree highly desired

Professional experience

  • 15+ years of professional experience in hardware product development, preferably in the IT industry
  • Proven record of delivering disruptive innovation
  • Experience working in a multinational environment with complex organizations, working across the seams with a proven track record of negotiation and influence across all levels of the organization
  • Experience managing large, global teams
  • Strong understanding of the PC market and technology trends
