Human Rights Office

HP aspires to champion the dignity, respect and empowerment of all people whom we work with.  The HP Human Rights Office owns the company-wide policies and commitments for human rights.  The Office oversees HP’s human rights due diligence by driving corporate-wide risk sensing and assessments as well as coordinating due diligence efforts conducted by functions that have the potential to impact human rights.  The office manages external reporting on our human rights performance by preparing voluntary and mandated disclosures and engaging with rating and ranking organizations. 


The Human Rights program manager will work with the others in the Human Rights Office and the company to deliver on the company’s policies and commitments involving due diligence, training and awareness, remedy and grievance, and reporting.   The role involves the ability to develop partnerships and collaboration within functions across the business to implement joint action plans meant to improve corporate performance in social responsibility.  The program manager will be charged with overseeing risk sensing and assessments in internal operations and reporting on our efforts and performance in company disclosures.

Specifically, the program manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Program manage the annual human rights due diligence process across HP’s operations, which includes social audits of HP offices and code of conduct audits in HP manufacturing operations. 
  • Develop and maintain coherent human rights due diligence processes, training and awareness building programs, and annual internal reporting across relevant functions, including but not limited to human resources, privacy, ethics and compliance and environment, health and safety. 
  • Lead external human rights reporting efforts, including our voluntary disclosures associated with HP’s Sustainability Impact Report, mandated disclosures such as our modern slavery statements and engagements with benchmarking organizations such as the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark. 
  • Track and analyze new and emerging regulatory requirements related to human rights, as well as emergent voluntary best practices in corporate human rights performance. 
  • Partner with HP’s regional sustainability teams to scale stakeholder and customer engagement, participation in multi-stakeholder initiatives, and processes to contribute to business growth.


Education and Experience Required:

  • BA or BS in corporate social responsibility, public policy, business, communications, or related field
  • 6 years or more of relevant experience in social responsibility and/or human rights
  • Demonstrated program/project management experience involving diverse and geographically disperse team members
  • Demonstrated experience influencing leaders and driving change, as well as ability to work with all levels of management

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong command of English language with effective verbal, written and presentation skills
  • A high level of professionalism/integrity and ability to work with sensitive and confidential matters by displaying strong judgement and diplomatic skills
  • An innate curiosity and passion for the business and human rights field
  • A self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Preferred Skills:

  • 4 years or more of progressive experience integrating social responsibility into core business practices within a multinational corporation, with a focus on human rights, supply chain, and/or due diligence
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated communications and/or external report development experience
